An exceptionally large and beautifully worked antique Georgian painted watercolour and silk embroidery, on silk, depicting the
Biblical scene of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary. It is late 18th century, probably from around 1790. The workmanship is exceptional and it's a really lovely piece.
In very good condition for its age (though there are some splits in the silk towards the edges, which is normal for this kind of embroidery as the silk does get more delicate with age - see pictures.
Nicely framed - the frame is old and may be the original but it does have a damage (a chip) on both top and bottom. We can send without frame and glass if you would prefer - it may save shipping costs.
This is unusual because it's such a large piece - 55.5 * 46.5 cm (21.5 *18 inches).
